WHIEDA photochromic glasses
pre-order
One pair for the whole day: clear indoors (81 % light transmission), turning into sunglasses within a minute outdoors (down to 19.65 %, category 2). Plus a 415–445 nm blue-light filter, UV400 and a nickel-free TR-90 frame.
Darkening in 0.95 minutes — almost 5 times faster than ordinary photochromic lenses; darkening degree 61.35 % against a norm of 60 %, photochromic response ratio 4.12 — three times the standard requirement. Figures are from the product data sheet. The kit includes a folding case, a blue-light test card, a UV torch for checking and a cloth.

Who they suit
This is 100% for you,
if you recognize yourself:
- 8–10 hours at a monitor under cold lamps
- Driving day and night: glare, headlights, traffic lights
- Constantly moving indoors and out — cycling, walks, sport
- Eyes dry and sting by the evening
- Metal allergy, temples rub
The main nuisance of ordinary glasses is that there are two pairs: one for outside, one for the screen — and the wrong one is always in the bag. Photochromic lenses work as an automatic filter: clear in the room, category 0; step into the sun and within seconds they darken to category 2 and cut the blinding ultraviolet. No squinting, no swapping glasses at the door.
The second layer is protection. The HEV filter cuts the 415–445 nm band of blue light that strains the eyes most, without distorting colours: the traffic light stays red, the grass stays green — that matters behind the wheel. UV400 blocks 100 % of UVA and UVB. The frame is flexible TR-90 polymer with shape memory, nickel- and heavy-metal-free, flame-retardant. It releases negative ions and gives gentle far-infrared warmth around the eyes — the same design as the WHIEDA computer glasses. All parameters are from the official description and the product certificates.
How it works
A lens that decides for itself how much light to let through
Photochromism. Indoors the light transmission is 81 % (category 0), outdoors down to 19.65 % (category 2). Darkening in 0.95 minutes, darkening degree 61.35 %, response ratio 4.12. For comparison: the standard requires 60 % and a ratio three times lower.
Optics. European EN ISO optics: light scattering at the lens edges up to 0.38 % against a norm of 3 % — straight lines do not bend, no dizziness after a day of reading. The difference between the right and left lens is measured in microns.
Strength. US FDA impact test: the lens withstands a steel-ball shot and does not shatter. Residual deformation of the TR-90 temples is 2.88 mm against a norm of up to 5 mm. The material is self-extinguishing.
Coatings and skin. Anti-dirt and anti-rain: drops roll off, fingerprints wipe away with one stroke of the cloth. 24 hours in sweat — no corrosion, no pigment leaching. No nickel or toxic plasticisers in the skin-contact zone.
Certificates. Chinese national standards for blue-light protection and photochromic lenses, European CE (PPE category — personal eye protection), the FDA impact test, and the EU RoHS directive on all 10 points.

Manufacturer's description
The glasses are certified to the international CE and RoHS standards — double protection of the eyes from harmful blue light and ultraviolet. The highly elastic frame withstands repeated bending and springs back into shape; the impact-resistant lenses do not crack when dropped. Photochromic lenses are an automatic filter: clear indoors (81 %, category 0), turning into sunglasses within seconds outdoors (down to 19.65 %, category 2).
Ingredients and specifications
How to use
Who they're for
- Office workers: cold lamps and a monitor for 8–10 hours.
- Drivers: traffic lights and glare day and night.
- Active people: constant outdoors ↔ indoors transitions.
- People with sensitive eyes: dryness, stinging by the evening, metal allergy.
The glasses do not replace an ophthalmologist's examination and do not correct vision — the lenses have no dioptres. Do not leave in the sun in a closed car or near heat. Keep out of children's reach (small parts in the kit). Personal eye protection, not a medical device.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Questions.
Do they darken in a car?
The windscreen holds back part of the ultraviolet, so behind glass the darkening is weaker than in the open air. The blue-light filter and UV400 always work.
Are there dioptres?
No, the lenses have no dioptres. This is protection and comfort, not vision correction.
Why are a torch and a test card in the kit?
To check the filter yourself: shine the UV torch on the test card through the lens — there will be no reaction. A simple demonstration you can show your friends.
How do they differ from the WHIEDA computer glasses?
The frame with anions and infrared warmth is the same idea. The difference is in the lenses: here they are photochromic and work as sunglasses outdoors; the computer glasses have clear anti-glare lenses.
